Costco French Onion Soup Recipe
This is the second time I’m making a Costco copycat recipe. I previously made the Costco Scalloped Potatoes Recipe, and it turned out delicious. Now, I’ll share the Costco French Onion Soup Recipe and how I made it in just a few simple steps, just like how I share my other recipes.
I love French Onion Soup recipes. The Longhorn one is my favorite so far; I made it, I guess, about three weeks ago. It’s a tasty French Onion Soup mixed with some spices inspired by the Longhorn restaurant. So far, I’ve only made copycats of French Onion Soup recipes. I love them because they are famous and delicious, but I’ll make a traditional one soon.
The Costco French Onion Soup Recipe is similar to the Longhorn one. It’s a great meal, loaded with onions, flavors, cheese, and everything else. It’s ideal for dinner. Serve a small bowl to each of your family members.

Tips from Julia
- Slice the onions super thin: this helps them cook evenly and makes them soft and sweet in the soup.
- Make sure you’re constantly stirring the onions while they’re cooking to prevent them from sticking to the bottom of the pot and getting too dark.
- You can use any cheese you like best instead of Gruyere.
What to Pair with this Costco French Onion Soup Recipe
Pair it with side dishes such as potato salad or baked whole cauliflower; they work well together.
Also, a quiche made from spinach and cheese is very good to eat with it. For drinks, a hot cup of Moroccan tea provides a nice contrast to the savory soup.
